I grew up on Eton and Fellrath - around the corner from both the old and new #1 locations. My dad, Stanley (Stash) Warunek was the maintenance man and janitor there for several years...started at the old location first, then moved over to the new one on the corner of Pennie and Powers and Beech Daly. I worked at The Donut Hut next door to the new #1 location and used to help dad with his chores after mine were done...also had a Free Press and Heights Journal paper route while attending Robichaud (1969 Grad). This all led to a successful sideline business as a janitor service and mobile locksmith business dad and I jointly owned. I still frequent the Livonia location often.
I can remember going to the Daly's on Beech Daly with my family when I was little. Everything was delicious! When I bowled out in Canton at the Superbowl, there was a Daly's inside of the bowling alley. Me and my cousins would always get frys and drinks for a snack. Fun memories! It's a shame that there is only one left. WE NEED MORE!!!
I met my wife at the Beech Daly Daly drive-in. Today, May 3, we will celebrate our 43 years of married life togather. We plan on going to (you got it) the daly drive-in this eveningto celebrate our special day.
I recall the one on beech daly and for years would make special trips back to the area to enjoy a Chee Chee. I had many friends that worked there. Sad that it closed. Making a trip to livonia for old time sake
Any Robichaud Graduates???? I'm sure we remember going to Daly's after school...
Wow...i remember going to Daly's on Beech Daly...back in the early 80's... THE BEST Hot Dogs on this PLANET!!
This would have been the late 60's and early 70's. After every Sunday evening service, it seemed the entire congregation of Mom's church found it's way to Daly's on Beech Daly. I remember vividly giant flying saucer sized platters of onion rings and Daly burgers. I was never able to talk Mom into letting me order the Daly-Double ice cream thing. Bear in mind, I was only six. One of these days when I head back to the Detroit area to visit, I'll head to the one that's left in Livonia and order one -that's if they still have it.
'64 - '65 hanging out at the Telegraph Rd. Daly's, six or seven crammed into Dippy Bob's '61 Chevy...the "Cheese-and Chilli" (now called the Chee-Chee)were our favorite.
OMG - I remember this so well - I lived on Currier and it was so close to go to almost every day - I wish one was down south.
I always went to Daly #9 at Plymouth and Burt Road in Detroit. Man, I loved the Daly Burger and Fries.Wish I had one right now!
In the 70's I used to go bowling at Livonia Lanes and then head over to Daly's for a snack. Usually their yummy french fries!
Like Paula of Adrian,I used to go to the Daly's in Westland on Wayne Rd. I also went to the onein Plymouth, the one with the fireplace. Such great memories.I now live in Blissfield near Adrian (and Paula). Like her Iwish we had a Daly's here in Lenawee county. Glad to know there is still one open. I'll see you there soon!
We used to go to the Dalys in Dearborn every night after church and enjoy great company and great food. My favorite is cheeseburger with just ketchup, a salad with italian dressing and a large cherry coke. What great memories
My parents used to take us kids to the Daly's on Wayne Rd after they were finished bowling...I was a chee chee aholic! My sister, cousin and alot of family friends worked there...I used to freeze chee chee's to eat for later..I am so sad the Wayne Rd restaurant closed. I live in Adrian Michigan now, we could really use one down here ;) This town would love it =)
The Pigs Dinner and the Daly Double at Beech Daly and Rosie at the Wayne Rd. store
We used to go to the original Daly's in Dearborn Hgts. when I was a small child. I fondly remember eating footlongs and medium shakes. My dad used to go there as a child with my grandpa. We moved to Plymouth in 1996 and went to the one on Main St./ Ann Arbor Rd. until it closed. We also went to the one on Wayne Rd. as well. When I went away for college I always went to Daly's when I came home as much as I could. Now I go with my family every chance I get. But I get a Jr. hotdog and a small shake now.
As a child my grandparents took me to the Daly Drive in and I have wonderful memories of it. As an adult I am going to make new memories there with my children. I am thankful for my grand parents and the memories I have of the Daly Drive in. thank you
I met my husband at Daly's back in 1967. We have been married almost 44 years and drop by there to eat once in a while. We have good memories of Daly's. Love their Chile Cheese Burger.
My mom and I used to make late night runs to the Daly's in Wayne whenever she had a craving for a banana split. Yum...
Those were the good old days, at Daly on Wayne Rd., Westland and the Dalyburger and chili fries. Now that location is a coney place, sure does not compare. I now go to the Plymouth & Merriman location. It's all there is.
