I grew up in Plymouth so we were always at the Daly on Ann Arbor Rd and Main St. I was SO sad to see that one close, along with most others. The Livonia location better NEVER close!! What would we do without Daly??

Back in 1965 we used to cruise the Livonia daly's and make the rounds up to big boys. If the girls were scarce we made a trip to Plymouth daly's and hit the a&w to see what the action was there. Maybe even pick up a race along the way. Just stay away from the 396 chevelle's and mopars. The food was great and the girls were fun to try to pick up. Those were some fun years. Still cruise in canton ga with a 2007 shelby gt500. Once a kid always a kid . Now my wife goes with me and that ' s cool.

I lived on the east side. Every Friday picked up my girlfriend at Herman Gardens on Joy road. Would go straight to Daly's on Greenfield and stuff ourselves with burgers or coneys. I think we were hooked on that sauce. Loved it! Next stop was Ford Wyoming drive- in, to sometimes maybe, actually, watch the movie. Good times!

I skated for several years at the Dearborn Rollerdrome which was right next to a Daly restaurant. We usually went over there after skating and I would have one of their 5 scoop sundaes (those were the days). If it was winter I would follow that with a bowl of vegetable beef soup to warm me up before going out. I would love to hear from other skaters from that time who knew me.

I remember the Daly next to the "Rollerdrome" on Warren. I went to Ann Arbor Trail Elementary School not far from there. Every once in a while Mom would surprise us and be waiting in front of the school to take us to lunch at Daly's (this was when all the Mom's stayed home & we walked home for lunch). What a great memory and SO sad to see the Daly's disappearing!

Everytime I go back home the place I want to visit is
Dalys and have a chili dog. Why does something like this makes a trip to memorable. Though I have to say eating a chili dog in you car is better then a restaurant "=)

My Dad owned a Sunoco gas station on Telegraph Rd by Michigan Ave at Oxford st in the 70's there was a Daly's on northbound Telegraph just before Michigan Ave. I spent a lot of time there for lunch, great burgers!! also there was one on Beech Daly rd & one on Wayne rd in Westland too. I live up north now, but when I come down I always make a stop at Daly's In Livonia. Its too bad all the others are gone now I hope this one stays open for ever! Best food out there!

Grew up in Detroit off Warren Ave near Southfield. We had more than our share of drive-ins back then. Along with Dalys we had an A&W's and another place called Robertsons. Each with their own kind of food & all within a mile of each other. Teenagers dream. Living in Az. now but when I go back I stop at Dalys.

My father Frank and his brother Ellis owned 4 of the stores through the sixties, seventies & eighties. My uncle James Blair owned the store next to the Roller drome on Warren. Ellis owned the store across near Redford High. My Father owned three stores. #14 in Redford 5 mile & Summner, #9 at Plymouth & Burt and #12 on Ecorse in Taylor. I worked in & enjoyed them all of my young life. Many good memories and even more good meals. I just can not imagine the detroit metro area without them.

Mr Grace managed our hockey team and he used to take the whole team there after games. We had so much fun there.

I lived on Colgate street near Jim(Beech)Daly in the late 50's. After getting out of the Air Force in 1964, I drove my dark blue '55 Ford up to Daly's on Beech Daly RD. I soon got a '62 Maroon HIPO Pontiac Catalina and several of us would leave Daly's and head out to Metro Airport side roads and do some great drag racing and then head back to Daly's to brag about it. I bought a new '66 Nassau Blue Corvette Convertible and lived up at Daly's. Many of my Daly friends are still my close friends, even to this day! Daly's was the cool place to hang out and marvel at all the cool cars coming in and out everynight. I really miss Daly's even to this day!

As a young lad in the very early sixties, we would pool our money together and after a winter of skating and sledding at Rouge Park we would stop at the Daly's on Warren and Outer Drive. Burgers, fries, hot choc. and a Daly's Banana split. mmmmm

I met my wife, Handy Dandy Sandy, at the Beech Daly Drive-In. July 31st, 2012 was our 47th Anniversary. It was Sandy's first visit for lunch to the Daly when she was working at Turchin Machine on Van Born Rd. At the time, we both had 57 Chevy's and the rest is history.

Does anyone remember the Daly next to the "roller drome" on Warren Ave??? DBNHGTS I believe. Used to go to a skate party almost every weekend in the mid - late 70's, and finished the night off next door at Daly's!! the burgers were the best and the footlongs only rivaled by A&W. Would love to buy the "daly sauce" if anyone know's were to get it, or a recipe..Thanks

My friends and I used to cruise alot of the Dalys on Fridays and Saturdays (mostly looking for a parking spot)! Even though a spot was hard to find in the late 60's once in a while after playing musical cars you'd get one. I took my wife there when we were dating and now she's another devoted fan. Please don't close Livonia !!! There are NO other burgers like it on the planet.

I grew up in Livonia in the 60's and my grandmother lived in Detroit, so we had many wonderful times at the Livonia and the Grand River Daly's. Of course I loved the Dalyburger, but my special favorite thing was the vegetable soup. A trip to Daly's was not complete without it. And of course, there were the wonderful sundaes - my favorite was a marshmallow sundae with chocolate ice cream. Never since then have I tasted such good marshmallow sauce or such creamy delicious chocolate ice cream.

grew up on Daly's in Westland. chee chee burgers were the best. Used to hang out in the back row with a cherry coke waiting for someone to drag, used to roll up Wayne Rd. and it was on once you passed Ford Road. Man, the memories, the good times, the great shakes and burgers. Will be back next month to visit, gotta have a daly dog and a chee chee if they'll make me one!

James K. Warunek

I grew up on Eton and Fellrath - around the corner from both the old and new #1 locations. My dad, Stanley (Stash) Warunek was the maintenance man and janitor there for several years...started at the old location first, then moved over to the new one on the corner of Pennie and Powers and Beech Daly. I worked at The Donut Hut next door to the new #1 location and used to help dad with his chores after mine were done...also had a Free Press and Heights Journal paper route while attending Robichaud (1969 Grad). This all led to a successful sideline business as a janitor service and mobile locksmith business dad and I jointly owned. I still frequent the Livonia location often.
